Third Quarter Project
Due March 4, 2013
Classes of Mrs. S. Williams
Objective: TLW create a picture that is copied from its original that is 1/4 of the original size. TLW use graphing techniques to accomplish this task. Procedure:
· Find a 3”x3” color comic or picture. If the picture is too large, cut it to the right dimensions. Make sure that there is enough of the drawing in the picture. Try not to cut off a person’s head.
· Next, mark the picture on all four sides of your picture in 1/4” increments. Connect the lines to create 144 boxes.’
· With the clean sheet of bond paper, cut a square that is 6”x6.”
· Mark the square on all four sides of your paper in 1/2” increments. Connect the lines to create 144 boxes.
· Starting at one of the corners, copy what is in the picture to the corresponding corner of the bond paper. Do this for the remaining 143 boxes. Remember, you are copying the boxes and not drawing these.
· Using colored pencils, make the best match (that you can) to add color to your creation. Use the black-ink pen for outlining and any words that you have in the square.
· Finally, attach the picture to the construction paper making double-face tape rolls on the back of both pieces, the original and your creation. Put your name and class period on the back of the picture.
Projects will be graded by the following criteria: (90% of the grade will count for the first four of these criteria)
· Size of the original picture and bond paper
· Measurement of the lines
· Copying of “lines and squiggles” to the blank paper.
· Color reproduction
· Neatness - 10%
